Flow Structure

Sleeve Japanese

About the work

A full sleeve composition built around the dynamic movement of traditional Japanese elements, where flow, balance, and structure define the visual language of the piece. The design integrates a detailed koi fish with layered waves and ornamental forms, creating a continuous rhythm that follows the natural anatomy of the arm.

Particular attention is given to transitions between elements, allowing the composition to feel unified rather than segmented. The contrast between solid black areas and softer tonal shading creates depth while maintaining long-term clarity. Each part of the design is positioned to enhance movement, guiding the eye through the entire sleeve without interruption.

The work reflects a balance between traditional references and a contemporary approach to composition. Rather than copying existing imagery, the elements are reinterpreted to fit the body and the overall structure of the piece. The result is a cohesive, refined tattoo that maintains both visual strength and subtle detail, evolving naturally with the form over time.
